SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The No. 16 Santa Clara men's water polo team (10-6-0) will host seven schools in "The Rodeo" this weekend at the Sullivan Aquatic Center. The tournament begins with a solo match Friday night at 7 p.m. between Cal Baptist and Brown and continues through Sunday.
In addition to the Broncos, Bears, and Lancers, the tournament field is filled out by UC Davis, Air Force, Concordia, Fresno Pacific, St. Francis (NY). Concordia is the highest ranked team at the tournament, checking in at No. 10, followed by UC Davis (No. 13), Air Force (No. 15), Santa Clara (No. 16), St. Francis (NO. 19), and Cal Baptist (No. 20).
The Broncos will play twice on both Saturday and Sunday, taking on Cal Baptist at 9:20a.m. and St. Francis at 2:40p.m. on Saturday and Brown at 10:40 a.m. and Air Force at 2:40 p.m. on Sunday.
Senior Jack Wall leads the Santa Clara offense with 49 goals this season on 98 attempts for a shooting percentage of .500. Junior Nick Poggetti has also been a scoring threat, finding the back of the cage 35 times while senior Liam Farrell has pitched in 29 goals.
Sophomore goalkeeper Michael Wishart looks to continue his stellar season and holds a goals-against-average of 6.5 with 149 blocks, 22 steals, and 14 assists.
Admission to the tournament is $7 for adults, $3 for seniors and children, and free for high school or college students with a school ID.
