No. 15 Men's Water Polo Win Final Two Games at Princeton Invitational

PRINCETON, NJ The No. 15 Santa Clara men's water polo team won their final two games at the Princeton Invitational. Going 4-1 in the weekend long tournament, the Broncos defeated No. 18 George Washington, 14-8, in the morning, and edged Bucknell, 11-9, in the second game of the day's doubleheader.
Liam Farrell, had another standout day scoring six goals, posting two assists and drawing five kick outs in both games.
"Liam had a standout weekend," said head coach Keith Wilbur. "He made a difference in our attack this weekend. He was a great offensive threat for us."
Against GWU Farrell scored four goals, notched an assist and drew two kick outs, and Jack Wall netted three, posted three assists and had a kick out drawn. Mike Sorgenfrei and Nicholas Poggetti scored two goals, and Mike Detoy, James Case and Marcus Akerland each tallied a goal. Freshman Akerland scored his first career goal. Chris Parolin notched two assists and had five kick outs drawn, while rookie goalie, Michael Wishart, had nine blocks and one assist.
In the afternoon, the Broncos stayed strong defeating Bucknell, 11-9. The Broncos leading offensive attacker from the weekend, Farrell, tallied two goals, an assist and three kick outs drawn. Wall posted two goals and two assists, Poggetti notched two goals, and Matt Adler, Case, Detoy, Josh Early and Parolin each scored a goal. Wishart stayed strong at goal, blocking six shots and posting one steal.
"Both games were tough, especially being the fourth and fifth of the tournament," Wilbur said. "We played well, kept up our energy level, played through tough calls and saw great results against some good competition."
The Broncos return to the west coast, to participate in the NorCals at the University of the Pacific, Sept. 20-21. Opponents and times have yet to be announced
