No. 15 Broncos Split Results in Day Two at Princeton Invitational

PRINCETON, NJ - The No. 15 Santa Clara men's water polo team split their results in day two at the Princeton Invitational. In game one of Saturday's doubleheader, Liam Farrell scored the game-winning goal with 19 seconds left in the game, to edge the Broncos over host No. 20 Princeton, 10-9. Farrell, the high scorer of the game, scored four goals to help lead Santa Clara to their second straight win.
"We played very hard in a tough environment created from a big home crowd," head coach Keith Wilbur said. "There were some tough calls, but the guys came through and we were able to get the win over a tough Princeton team."
The Broncos got out to an early 2-0 lead, but the Tigers stayed close behind, tying the game at eight different points. Six different Broncos scored in the game, including Jack Wall who scored two goals, and Matt Adler, Andrew Fitch, Nicholas Poggetti and Mike Sorgenfrei each scored a goal apiece.
In game two, the Broncos fell, 10-8, to No. 19 Brown. Farrell had another standout game, scoring four goals, posting an assist and drawing a kick out.
"It was a tough game for us," said Wilbur. "We came back, but we needed more endurance to finish the game through."
The Broncos return to action for the third and final day of the Princeton Invitation. At 6:10 a.m. PT they will take on No. 18 George Washington, and conclude play against Bucknell at 10:50 a.m PT.
