Alumni Day For Men's Water Polo This Saturday

The Santa Clara men's water polo team will be holding the annual Jeff "Paco" Kopacek Alumni Game this Saturday at Malley Pool. For the first time, the alumni game will actually be split up into two games this year. The first game, at 11 a.m. will give the returning alumni a crack at the current team with regular rules and reffing. The second game at 1:15 will pit the players from even numbered graduating years against the odd numbered graduating years.

"It's a really fun day," said head coach Keith Wilbur. "The alumni come back and get in the water and play. It's a great way for them to reconnect and meet the team and have a great time." Around 31 alumni are expected to show up for Saturday's events.

After the games will be the Steve Oda Alumni Family and Friends BBQ. Steve Oda is the father of current senior Luke Oda and returning alumni Mark Oda. "With the alumni and everyone they're bringing and the people involved in our program, it should be around 200 people," said Wilbur. "It's just a great event where guys can reconnect and share stories from the past."
