Oct. 5, 2003

STANFORD, Calif. - Senior Daniel Figoni scored five times to lead the Santa Clara University men's water polo team, but it wasn't enough as the Broncos fell to 12th-ranked Navy this morning 8-6 at the NorCal Tournament, hosted by Stanford at the Avery Aquatic Center. The loss moves the Broncos' record to 8-8 on the season.

Kenny Flanagan-De La Hoz and Logan Gee combined to draw eight kick outs that led to the many man-up opportunities Figoni converted on. Flanagan-De La Hoz also had four steals. Freshman Kevin Starry added the Broncos' other tally and added three steals. Peter Moore registered 13 blocks in goal.

The NorCal Tournament is one of the premier collegiate water polo events in the country. Fourteen of the 16 teams entered are ranked in the Collegiate Coaches top 20.

Santa Clara closes out play at the tournament against Division III top-ranked UC Santa Cruz at 4:30 p.m.
