SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara men's water polo head coach Steve Hanson announced the signing of three players to National Letters of Intent during this spring's signing period. The Class of 2005 will include Kevin Bayless of San Juan Capistrano, Peter Moore of Los Angeles and Nick Takahashi of South Pasadena. Additionally, Mark Oda and Grant Allison, both from Honolulu, Hawaii, have submitted enrollment confirmation forms and will be joining the program in the fall.
"All five freshmen will contribute immediately," Hanson said. "They all come from great programs with long histories of success. In this group, Santa Clara will meet its need for goaltenders with Kevin and Peter, both of whom were named to their respective All-League teams. Nick and Grant will help take some of the pressure off returning senior two-meter man Jay Moorhead, and Mark Oda will fit in as a role player, as he can put some pressure on opposing defenses with his speed and driving ability. I'm looking forward to great things from these players in the coming years."
