SAN BRUNO, Calif. - Santa Clara University men's tennis player Chris Lam was named the West Coast Conference's Singles Player of the Month for April, the league announced this afternoon.

Lam went 6-1 during the month at No. 1 singles with two wins over ranked opponents: 74th-ranked Marcus Bernston of Boise State, 6-4, 6-2, and a comeback victory over Portland's Peter Malacek, then ranked 101st, by a 7-5, 4-6, 7-6 score. Lam opened the month with five straight wins and went 4-0 against WCC opponents. The Honolulu native entered the ITA rankings at No. 116 earlier in the month, becomming the first ever in the Bronco program to be nationally ranked in singles. Lam peaked at No. 104 and is currently No. 113. Lam also became the first Bronco to ever to earn WCC Freshman of the Year honors.

San Diego's Juan Cerda and Jason Pongsrikul earned the league's Doubles Team on the Month honor.
