SKILLMAN, N.J. - The Santa Clara University men's tennis team moved up two spots and is currently ranked 55th in this week's poll by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, marking the highest ranking ever for the program, dating back to its debut in the national spotlight two seasons ago.

After defeating three nationally-ranked teams two weeks ago, the Broncos vaulted 17 spots to 57th, which matched the highest ever for the program, when it debuted in the ITA poll April 12, 2000.

Fans can next see the Broncos in action this afternoon in Stockton, when the team aims for its 13th-straight victory at Pacific for a 2 p.m. non-conference match. Santa Clara returns to the SCU Tennis Center for matches on Friday and Saturday, against Boise State at 1 p.m. and West Coast Conference opponent Portland at 11 a.m., respectively. The Broncos are currently 15-4 on the season, 7-1 in league play.

The team's streak began March 2 and includes victories over five conference opponents as well as the ACC's Clemson, No. 52 Oregon from the Pac-10, and 55th-ranked and Big-Ten power Wisconsin.

Last year's team began the season with the program's first preseason ranking ever, debuting at No. 75. The 2000 squad earned the program's overall first national ranking in April and finished the season at No. 65.
