STOCKTON, Calif. - The 55th-ranked Santa Clara University men's tennis team saw its 12-match win streak come to an end as Pacific edged the Broncos by a 4-3 margin in non-conference action this afternoon at the Hal Nelson Tennis Courts in Stockton. The Broncos' record moves to 15-5 on the season while the Tigers improve to 10-5.

Santa Clara started strong, sweeping all three doubles matches and earning the first point of the contest. Sophomores Erich Chen and Rick Ruso led the charge with an 8-4 win over Pacific freshmen Niclas Otte and Junaid Hossain on the first court.

In singles, Pacific won on the first court in straight sets and then pulled out three-set wins on courts three and five to tie the match up. Fredrik Jeppsson clinched the win for the Tigers with a 7-5, 2-6, 6-4 win on No. 6 over SCU's Federico Mattioli.

The Broncos were playing without freshman Chris Lam, who missed the match for personal reasons.

Fans can next see the Broncos in action Friday afternoon, when the team returns to the SCU Tennis Center for a match against Boise State at 1 p.m. Santa Clara remains on the mission campus for a Saturday match, returning to West Coast Conference action against rival Portland at 11 a.m. The Broncos are currently 7-1 in league play.
