March 13, 2001
SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The Santa Clara men's tennis team defeated Gonzaga 7-0 in dual action this afternoon at the Santa Clara Tennis Center, improving to 6-5 on the year, 2-1 in West Coast Conference action. The Bulldogs fall to 4-4 on the season, 0-2 in league play. Santa Clara opened the match strong, sweeping the doubles point. The Broncos' No. 1 tandem of sophomores Michael Bruggemann and Ryan Livesay defeated Gonzaga's Eduardo Kohlberg and Joe Zavaglia 8-4. The same score was seen at the end of play on the second doubles court, as junior Victor Camargo paired with freshman Michael Duong for the first time this season. Also teaming for the first time together was sophomore Adam Lewis and redshirt freshman Rick Ruso, winning on court three by an 8-3 score. Bruggemann returned to the singles lineup for the first time in two years, defeating Shaun Whitney 6-1, 6-4 in the sixth singles slot.
