Bronco Men's Tennis Ranked No. 5 in Northwest and No. 68 Nationally; Several Broncos Ranked Individually

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – In the final Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings of 2013, the Santa Clara men's tennis team made both the national and regional rankings while several Broncos received individual recognition as well.

The Bronco squad rounded out the top five in the Northwest rankings and was the highest rated West Coast Conference team in the region. WCC foes USF, St. Mary's and Portland appeared in the No. 7, 8 and 9 spots. Santa Clara, which had a 17-10 mark last season, also finished No. 68 in the national rankings.

Several Broncos garnered attention in the singles and doubles standings. John Lamble, the Broncos' No. 1 player, was ranked fifth in the Northwest for singles and placed No. 91 in the national ratings. The Saratoga native scored the highest ranking out of any WCC player in the region.

Lamble amassed a 20-14 overall record en route to being named First-Team All-WCC. He also received WCC Player of the Month honors for March and went 15-9 in dual matches while providing stability at the top of the Broncos' lineup.

Matt Kecki, who used the remainder of his eligibility while beginning his MBA at Santa Clara, was ranked No. 19 in the Northwest. Kecki was named All-WCC honorable mention with a 15-8 record overall and 13-5 mark in dual matches.

In doubles, the Broncos top tandem of Lamble and Ilya Osintsev was recognized for their strong season. The duo came in at eighth in the regional doubles rankings after going 10-6 at No. 1 and receiving All-WCC Honorable Mention honors. The pair finished the season with five straight wins and seven in eight matches and played a huge part in helping Santa Clara win five consecutive doubles points to conclude the season. They topped USF's No. 1 doubles team – ranked No. 5 in the region -- twice on the season.
