Broncos Off To Good Start At Bronco Classic

Santa Clara, Calif. - The Santa Clara University men's tennis team got off to a good start Friday as five players won singles matches, while the doubles pair of Kenzo Hirakawa-Wong and Aneal Vallurupalli won their doubles match.
Sophomore Tommy Hicks played in the match of the day as he fought off 14 set points in the first set, before capturing the set in a tiebreaker. He then rolled to a 6-2 win in the second set to advance to the next round.
Also winning singles matches for the Broncos were sophomore Brian Brogan, freshman Jay Wong, sophomore Kenzo Hirakawa-Wong and junior Blane Shields. Wong won in straight sets in his first collegiate match against Seth Spector of UC San Diego.
