Oct. 29, 2002
MORAGA, Calif. - Sophomore Taylor Bedilion advanced to the final of the consolation singles bracket at the OMNI Hotels ITA Regional, hosted by Saint Mary's in Moraga.
Bedilion, of San Anselmo, defeated Kevin Patrick of California in straight sets, winning 6-1, 6-1. He advanced to the final, but fell 6-3, 6-7, 7-1 to Fresno State's Stefan Suta.
"Taylor just ran out of gas at the end," head coach George Husack said. "He played eight matches this weekend, which was a great showing for his first tournament of the season."
Bedilion rolled his left ankle just prior to the start of the school year and did not participate in the first two fall tournaments Santa Clara attended.
The Broncos return to action next weekend at home when they host the Santa Clara University Classic. The tournament begins Friday, Nov. 8 and runs through Sunday, Nov. 10. All matches will take place at the SCU Tennis Center.
