SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Junior midfielder Jeff Cosgriff earned his first West Coast Conference accolade on Monday as he was named the WCC's men's soccer Player of the Week.
Cosgriff scored the lone goal Sunday afternoon to lift the Broncos to a 1-0 victory over the Toreros of San Diego. It was SCU's first conference win of the season and USD's first league loss of the year.
The San Bruno, Calif., native leads Santa Clara with eight points and thee goals. He has also dished out two assists. Santa Clara is 3-6-4 on the season and 1-2-2 in WCC play.
The Broncos return to action with two games this weekend against the Dons of San Francisco. USF will travel to the Mission Campus to battle SCU at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 24. Santa Clara then makes it way up to The City to face off against San Francisco on Sunday, Oct. 26 at 7 p.m.
