Quotes - Portland at Santa Clara
Head coach Cameron Rast, on game: "We played well right off the bat tonight. I challenged the guys to prepare for this game like we still needed to qualify for the playoffs and they responded. They came out ready to play and did a lot of things well, so I am really pleased with the performance."
Rast, on finishing: "Peter (Lowry) got us going with a good early goal that was well created. We broke them down and got in behind and he was able to slot it home. At halftime we talked about scoring a few more goals without conceding any in the back and we were able to do that. Sean (Danzeiser) and Keith (DeVey) has some nice finishes for us."
Rast, on using reserves: "We were able to use a lot of different players tonight which is great for us. It gives them game experience and in the playoffs you never know who will contribute so it was good to get some different players in there."
Keith DeVey, on getting win at home: "It is good for us to get a convincing win at Buck Shaw. That really gives us confidence especially with the playoffs coming up. We have had some close games here this year but it feels good to play well and get a nice win."
DeVey, on team's play: "The team is playing really well right now and it seems like all the pieces are starting fit together for us. We just want to keep building momentum as we head into the playoffs. All we care about right now is getting deep into the playoffs so we just have to stay focused."
DeVey, on goal: "Amaechi (Igwe) gave me a good ball and I took a bit of a long touch but the defense did not react well so I was able to recover the ball. I just stuck with it and toe-poked it by the `keeper."
Sean Danzeiser, on goal: "I saw Amaechi (Igwe) get the ball at midfield and he made a great move on the defender and sent the ball to me. It took a bad skip on the defender and I was able to get behind him. The goalie was coming out so I just chipped it over him."
Danzeiser, on putting game away: "We are definitely growing as a team. When we played up in Portland, we were up 2-0 and they scored to get back in the game. Tonight we got the third goal and just killed the game off."
