SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara University men's soccer will travel to Miami, Florida this weekend to participate in the Umbro Classic hosted by Florida International University.
The Broncos will play the host on Friday afternoon at 4:30 pm (PST) and conclude the tournament on Sunday morning with a match against James Madison at 9:30 a.m. (PST).
Head Coach Mitch Murray and his squad enters the tournament looking to improve on its 3-3-0 overall record and kick-start the rest of its season. "We will need two good performances for us to have a chance to win," said Murray. "If we are fortunate enough to come away with two victories, I think that it would be a tremendous confidence builder for our guys for the rest of the season."
The Broncos have faced Florida International three previous times having won all three contests, the last of which came in 1992. James Madison and Santa Clara have never met before on the field despite being two of the premier teams in the country. Florida Atlantic rounds out the participants for the Umbro Classic.
