Men's Golf Hosts SCU Invitational Next Week

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The Santa Clara men's golf program will host their annual Santa Clara Invitational next week at the Silver Creek Valley Country Club in San Jose. The tournament will feature 10 teams, including Boise State, Loyola (Md.) and Sacramento State.

The two-day event begins on Monday, Oct. 20 with an 8 a.m. shotgun start. The teams will play two rounds on Monday, and finish with a single round on Tuesday, Oct. 21.

The Broncos are led by senior Jonathan Keane, who has recorded two top-10 finishes thus far. His low round for the season, 67, was recorded in the final round of the Saint Mary's Invitational (Sept. 29-30). Junior Jimmy Cacho led the Broncos with a 32nd place finish at the Windon Memorial (Oct. 5-6) hosted by Northwestern University. His season low, 70, came in the first round of the SMC Invitational.

Freshman Ronnald Monaco, Cory Mehl and Danny Cacho have all gained their first taste of collegiate action this fall. Monaco finished tied for 30th at the Saint Mary's Invitational. Mehl also had his best outing at the SMC Invite as he tied for 69th, shooting 78-74-77.
