Men's Golf Opens Fall Season In San Francisco

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The Santa Clara men's golf program open the fall tournament season at the 2008 San Francisco Intercollegiate beginning Monday, Sept. 8 on the Lake Course. It is the first collegiate tournament held at one of the nation's most prestigious courses since 1995.

The Broncos will face tough competition from Alabama-Birmingham, California, Colorado, Hartford, Nevada, Notre Dame, Oregon State, Rice, Saint Mary's, San Diego, USF, Wisconsin and Xavier.

The format of the two day event is a 54 hole tournament with 36 holds on Monday, Sept. 8 followed by the final round on Tuesday, Sept. 9. Both rounds begin with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.

Santa Clara returns six veterans in 2008 and welcomes three newcomers. Among the returning members are All-WCC First team honoree Scott Travers and All-WCC honorable mention Jonathan Keane.
