SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The Santa Clara University men's golf team will conclude its 2001-2002 season at the U.S. Intercollegiate hosted by Stanford University April 20-21 at the Stanford Golf Course.

The Broncos are coming off the West Coast Conference Championships where they finished eighth after a rough final day score of 326.

Freshman Jonathan Edwards led the Broncos in scoring for the first time all season at the WCC Championships, posting a three-round total of 16-over par, 232, which was good enough for a tie for 16th place on the leaderboard.

Fellow freshman Matt Klenz and senior Sandy Horacek, who have led the Bronco charge all season long, both finished in a tie for 28th with a tournament total of 234. Klenz was rewarded for a solid inaugural campaign on the Mission Campus with an All-WCC selection. Please click here for updated Santa Clara men's golf stats.

The Broncos will begin play at the U.S. Intercollegiate with an 8 a.m. shotgun start Saturday morning, playing 36 holes on day one. Day two will also begin at 8 a.m. Sunday morning, but the teams will only play 18 holes to complete the 54-hole tournament.

Santa Clara is one of 16 teams in the stellar field, and one of four from the Bay Area. Last year's tournament winner, Arizona, is not in the 2002 field to defend its title, but 2000 Champion, California, is back and looking for another shot at the crown.
