Santa Clara, Calif. -- Scott Travers of the Santa Clara men's golf team was named the WCC Player of the Month for February. He finished tied for 11th at the Hilo Invitational early in the month and finished it off by winning the Anteater Invitational at UC Irvine.
Travers started out his month at the Hilo Invitational in Hawaii where he posted rounds of 70, 69, and a final round 66 which tied for the low round of the day and helped move the Broncos up three spots in the final results. Then at the UC Irvine Anteater Invitational, Travers shot out to a four stroke lead after the first two rounds, with two consecutive 68's, putting him at eight-under. In the final round of the tournament, Travers shot even par, which put him in a tie for first. In the first two playoff holes, he had to scramble to make par and keep the playoff going. Then in the third playoff hole, Travers drained a 30-footer to win the tournament. His win helped pace the Broncos to a first place finish of their own.
This past week, Travers took his momentum into the Fresno State Lexus Golf Classic and finished tied for fourth, shooting under par in all three rounds to finish at six-under. In the three tournaments in 2008, Travers has yet to shoot over-par in a round.
