Men's Golf Places Second the Dusty Destruel Invitational
Nov. 7, 2000 SAN JOSE, Calif. - Santa Clara's men's golf team placed second at the Dusty Destruel Invitational this afternoon at the Silver Creek Valley Golf Course, a par-72 layout measuring 6,868 yards. The Broncos lead the 10-team field by seven strokes heading into the final round, but strong play by San Jose State gave the Spartans the title by four strokes, with four individuals placing in the top five. Santa Clara was led by senior Michael Melling, who tied for fourth individually, with a 10-over 226. The Broncos will conclude their fall season Nov. 12-14 at the Farmer John Classic, hosted by Loyola Marymount at the Tiera Rejada Country Club in Moorpark.
