Men's Golf Ties for Second at Aztec Invitational
Oct. 31, 2000 MURRIETA, Calif. - Santa Clara's men's golf team tied for second at the Aztec Invitational, hosted by the SCGA Members Club, a par-72 layout measuring 7,060 yards. The Broncos were led by sophomore Justin Ahasic, who tied for sixth individually, with a two-under-par 214 for the three-round tournament. Senior Drew Corwin finished 10th with a one-over 217. Senior Michael Melling and junior Sandy Horacek tied for 26th place, both finishing with six-over 222s. Senior Tony Okano rounded out the Bronco scorecard, placing 51st with a 228. San Diego State won the tournament in 846 strokes, 18 under par. It's junior varsity team tied Santa Clara for runner-up honors, while Louisville and Texas-San Antonio rounded out the top five. The Broncos return home to host the Dusty Destruel Invitational at Silver Creek Country Club in San Jose, Nov. 6-7.
