Final Stats

SIMI VALLEY, Calif. - Santa Clara University's men's golf team finished play at its first tournament of the year on Tuesday afternoon at the Countrywide Home Loans Intercollegiate Tournament hosted by Cal State Northridge. The Broncos third round score of 323 slipped them down to a 19th place finish out of 24 teams.

The third round was dominated by tough playing conditions, leading to a little let down in the scoring as only two teams were able to score below 300 for their third round. The Broncos were one of the teams most affected by the tough conditions as the Broncos fell 10 spots in the team standings from the night before.

Senior Sandy Horacek recorded the best score of the day for the Broncos, firing a 3-over par 75. Combine his third round score with his 71 and 73 in the first two rounds and Horacek had a score good enough to earn him a tie for 12th place.

Freshman Kevin Bric was the next highest finisher for the Broncos as he finished in a tie for 39th place after shooting an 11-over par 83 on tuesday. Bric was joined by three other freshmen who were also playing in their first competitive collegiate match.

The Broncos will have next week off before heading to Bakersfield, Calif. to participate in the Cal State Bakersfield Invitational on October 29-30.
