The Santa Clara University men's golf team improved one spot, to 21st, after the final round of action at the Gold Rush California Collegiate Showcase, hosted by UCLA at the PGA of Southern California Golf Club in Beaumont.

Santa Clara carded a 16-over-par 304 in today's final round on the Champions Course, which is a par-72, 7,223-yard layout. Combined with Friday scores of 311 and 300, the Broncos concluded the event 51 strokes over par in the 30-team all-California team field. Host UCLA won the team competition following a 23-under par 841 three-round total. Stanford placed second, 13 strokes back, followed by UC Riverside at seven-under and Saint Mary's at five-under.

Jong Yoon led the Broncos with his score of 74 today. He tied for 84th overall with a 227. Just one stroke back was teammate John Colyar, who placed 88th. Jonathan Edwards and Eric Lillibridge tied for 115th, after both finished the event with 17-over 233s. Blair Myers was just one stroke past those teammates, tied for 122nd at 234.

Cal Poly's Travis Bertoni and UCLA's Peter Campbell shared the top spot on the leader board for the individual competition, after both carded two-day totals of 205, 11 strokes under par. San Jose State's Justin Madison was four strokes back at 209 to place third.

The Broncos will return to action on Monday, Sept. 27, with participation at the Pacific Intercollegiate in Stockton.
