Men's Golf in 18th at U.S. Intercollegiate

STANFORD, Calif. - The Santa Clara University men's golf team is currently in 18th place at the U.S. Intercollegiate, hosted by Stanford University at the Stanford Golf Course.

The Broncos played team rounds of 308 and 309 on the par-71, 6,835-yard layout, and are 49 strokes over par in the 18-team field. UCLA leads the team competition following a nine-under par 559 performance. San Diego State is second, just 10 strokes back, followed by California at seven-over 575for third.

The Broncos are led by Michael Nicoletti, who finished his rounds seven-over par and tied for 45th in the field. Jonathan Edwards and Jong Yoon are tied for 79th place with a13-over 155. Justin Ahasic is tied for 93rd and Matt Klenz is in 99th.

Stanford's Kevin Blue, San Diego State's Aaron Goldberg and UCLA's Roy Moon are in a three-way tie at the top of the leader board for the individual competition, after all carded rounds of 138, four strokes under par. Ten other competitors turned in scorecards with rounds at or below par.

The Broncos will play their final round of the 2004 season tomorrow morning. Action begins with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.
