MADISON, Miss. - The Santa Clara men's golf team shot a 17-over par 573 on the first day of the BancorpSouth Intercollegiate Monday at Reunion Golf and Country Club - a tournament hosted by Ole Miss. The Broncos were in 6th place as a team after the first round but slipped to 12th in the 15-team field. SCU will begin final round play this morning.

Conditions were great for scoring on day one, with sunny skies and warm temperatures. SCU ace Scott Travers shot an opening round 69 and is in a tie for 7th on the individual leaderboard at 2-under, eight shots off the lead. Both Jimmy Cacho and Rick Lamb posted an opening-round score of 73.
