Men's Golf in 18th at Western Intercollegiate

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - The Santa Clara University men's golf team is currently in 18th place after two rounds of play on Monday at the 59th annual Western Intercollegiate, presented by Taylor Made and adidas. San Jose State is hosting the event at the Pasatiempo Golf Course in Santa Cruz, a par-70, 6,115-yard layout.

The 18-team field played 36 holes today, and Santa Clara carded rounds of 304 and 308 for a 612 total, 52 strokes over par. The Broncos were led by Jong Yoon, who carded a 72-74--146 and is currently in 16th place, six strokes over par. John Colyar followed with a 78-75--153 to place 58th, and Jonathan Edwards was two strokes behind Colyar to place 70th with a 79-76--155. Michael Nicoletti scored a 75-83--158 and Eric Lillibridge added an 80-84--164.

Oregon leads the team competition, with a 22-over 582, two strokes ahead of Kansas. UCLA, Stanford and UC Irvine round out the top five heading into Tuesday's final round, which begins at approximately 8 a.m.

Cal Poly's J.J. Scurich leads all individuals, posting a two-under 68-70--138 for a tw0-stroke lead over UCLA's Daniel Im (68-72--140). They were the only two golfers to post even-par or better scores.
