JUNCTION CITY, Ore. - Santa Clara's men's golf team slipped to 10th overall in final-round play at the University of Oregon Duck Invitational. The host Ducks of Oregon won the team title by shooting 7-under for the tournament's three rounds at the Shadow Hills Country Club outside Eugene.

"Birdies were hard to come by, tough golf course out here, real long, especially with the course being wet," said Santa Clara head coach Robert Miller about the playing conditions Tuesday. "With that being said the opportunity was there. We were in position to move up today and didn't get it done; it was one of those days for us."

The Broncos were among five teams in position to move into fourth place at the 13-team event after two rounds were completed Monday. Jimmy Cacho, who was just one shot off the lead entering final-round play Tuesday finished 3-over and tied for 16th. Ronnald Monaco carded 41 pars, which was second-best among all players in the field and Scott Travers posted one of the tournament's lowest rounds of 69.

"Our top five guys are all capable of playing with anyone," said Miller. "Ronnald (Monaco) played really solid this week and Rick (Lamb) got back on track after missing two tournaments. I expect us to be in rhythm going into the Mississippi tournament and then into the WCC's."
