Men's Golf Opens Spring Play at Sac State Invite

RANCHO MURIETA, Calif. - The Santa Clara men's golf team opened the spring season with two rounds of play at the Rancho Murieta Country Club this morning, as part of the Sacramento State Invitational. The Broncos are currently in fourth place after two rounds, with the final round to be played tomorrow morning. Senior Drew Corwin led the Broncos today, firing a 144 on the par-72, 6, 839-yard course, good for second place heading into tomorrow's final round. He's three strokes behind current leader Mark Lawless of CS Stanislaus. Senior Tony Okano, junior Sandy Horacek and senior Paul Nelson are also currently in the top 20 after today's action. Idaho leads all teams with a 20-over-par 596. Washington State is second at 598, while host Sacramento State is in third place, with a 601. The Broncos are just seven strokes off the lead after recording rounds of 306 and 297 today.
