Men's Golf Finishes Day One of Sacramento State Invite
March 11, 2002
The Santa Clara University men's golf team finished first and second round play monday afternoon at the Sacramento State Invitational in eighth place out of 13 teams, with a two-round total of 613. Sandy Horacek led the way through the first two rounds, shooting scores of 77 and 74 to finish at 7-over par for the day and in a tie for 26th place. Jonathan Edwards and Matt Klenz are each two shots back of Horacek after shooting rounds of 76-77, and 77-76, respectively. Chris DeMartini posted a score of 14-over 158, after rounds of 80 and 78, while Kevin Bric posted scores of 78 and 82 to round out the Bronco scoring. "Our focus tomorrow will be concentrating on the right thing," said head coach John Kennaday. "We need to focus on the ball, the target, the shot at that very moment not on the extraneous things like our final score. The guys have a challenge in front of them to stay in the present. I hope that they can do that, work on their routines and get it going out there tomorrow and have a good showing." Day two will feature the third and final round of the Sac State Invite. Following Tuesday's final round, the Broncos will participate in the UC Irvine Invitational March 25-26 in Banning, Calif.
