EUGENE, Ore. -
The Santa Clara University men's golf team is competing amongst a strong field at the 7,020-yard, par-72 layout at Eugene Country Club this week. Despite an opening-round one-over par 73 from senior Ronnald Monaco (pictured), the Broncos struggled overall during the opening day.

Ronnald Monaco was Santa Clara's top finisher after rounds of 73 and 78 put him in a tie for 43rd heading into Tuesday's final round. In his return to his hometown, SCU sophomore Bobby Monaco shot a first round 77.

Santa Clara is in 14th-place after Monday's 36 holes. Tournament host and No. 12 Oregon and No. 49 Long Beach State went low, with the Ducks at 13-under and the 49ers at 12-under collectively, well out in front of the rest of the field.
