Santa Clara Men's Golf Travels to Tucson for 2012 Debut
SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The Santa Clara University men's golf team opens the 2012 spring season Monday and Tuesday, Jan. 30-31 in Tucson, Arizona. The Broncos have consistently been ranked among the nation's top 80 over the past six seasons under head coach Rob Miller.
This season SCU is playing with a six-man roster, which includes two sophomores and two true freshmen. Sophomore Scott Lowe (Calgary, Alberta Canada/Edge School) closed out the fall campaign by posting a top 15 finish at Santa Clara's Cabo Collegiate.
Lowe and sophomore classmate Bobby Monaco (Eugene, Ore./South Eugene) and senior Ronnald Monaco (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif./Ontario Christian) will have to play well this week in Tucson to allow SCU a chance at top-tier finish amongst a strong field which includes No. 12 California, No. 24 New Mexico, tournament host and 49th-ranked Arizona and No. 62 Campbell.
The event in Tucson will be the first of seven spring tournaments for Santa Clara, capped off by the 2012 West Coast Conference Championships at nearby San Juan Oaks Golf Club in Hollister, Calif.

Details: A 54-hole event, 36 holes will be played on Monday, Jan. 30 with continuous play scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. MST. The final 18 holes will start at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 31.
