SCU Men's Golf Wraps Up First Tournament of 2011-12 Season

WAYZATA, Minn. - The Santa Clara University men's golf team struggled in its first tournament of the 2011-12 season, finishing 14th overall at the Gopher Invitational at Spring Hill Golf Club in Wayzata, Minnesota. All-West Coast Conference senior Cory Mehl shot rounds of 75, 79 and 74 to tie for 32nd as the top SCU fininsher.

SCU played with a pair of true freshmen, Brett Komoto and Colin Gunstream as well as returners Ronnald Monaco and Bobby Monaco (no relation). Arkansas - who will co-host the Cabo Collegiate later this fall with Santa Clara - won the team title.

Details: Three rounds over two days. The first and second rounds will be played consecutively on Sunday, beginning with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. (CT). Tee times for Monday's final round will begin at 8:30 a.m. (CT).
