Men's Golf Signs Adds Two to Program
May 6, 2004
SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The Santa Clara University men's golf team announced the signing of 6-3 right-hander Kellen Moss of Yuba City and 5-9 right-hander Blair Myers of Scottsdale, Ariz., to national letters of intent, head coach John Kennaday recently announced during the late signing period that began April 14. The two will join the Bronco program next fall.
"We're fortunate to get two players of such high stature in the same recruiting class," Kennaday said. "Both bring a great deal of character and desire to raise this program to the next level. With more and more teams actively recruiting, signing these guys really sets the stage for the bright future for our program."
Moss prepped at Yuba City High School, under head coach Kent Myers. His squad recently won the league championship. Individually, Moss medaled in two prep tournaments while also tying for seventh at the State Amateur Qualifying event in late April. Last summer, he won the Phil Marskey Sacramento City Junior Championship, while placing second in three other events. Moss' lowest competitive score is a 70 and he averages a 74.
"Kellen is a diamond in the rough, and with a little polishing of such exciting raw talent, we're looking at somebody with a very bright future," Kennaday added.
Myers is a two-time Junior Tour All-American from Scottsdale and prepped at the Christian Academy in Phoenix, under the tutelage of coach John Nitta. In 2003, he won the Arizona 2A State Individual Championship and is also a two-time Golfer of the Year honoree. Myers has participated on the AJGA, JGAA, FCWT, IJGT and SMJGA tours. His lowest competitive score is a 65 and he averages a 72. His home club course is The Country club at DC Ranch where he is coached by Steve Dalby.
Myers chose the Bronco program over those at San Diego, Pepperdine, Ohio State and Arizona.
"Blair will fit well with our team, as he is also dedicated to moving this program forward," Kennaday concluded.
