Santa Clara men's rowing announced its 2014 schedule Wednesday, featuring seven events across 10 days from March 2 – May 17. The first three competitions will be held in the greater Sacramento area, including the season-opening Davis invitational on March 2. Opponents include UC San Diego and Gonzaga at the Port of Sacramento March 14.
"We have a really challenging schedule this year and will face some very tough competition at each event," second-year head coach Jay Farwell said. "With the Christmas break behind us, the team is fully focused on its preparation for the upcoming season."
The team travels south to once again compete in the San Diego Crew Classic April 5-6 before returning to take part in the Stanford Invitational April 18-19 and the WIRA Championships April 26-27. The four days of racing in a 10-day span from April 18-27 is the busiest stretch of the 2014 season.
"We have a really exciting group of freshmen that has increased the competitive environment on the team and should positively impact our overall boat speed," Farwell said. "We also have a number of seniors whose leadership and experience will pave the way for what we believe will be a successful year."
