Broncos Post Successful End To First Season With Coach Farwell
With a successful finish at the Pacific Coast Rowing Championships (PCRC) on May 18, the Santa Clara men’s rowing team wrapped up their 2012-13 season on a high note. Welcoming back Jay Farwell as the head coach earlier this season, the Broncos faced many challenges including the task to create a new team atmosphere as well as many injuries.

Toban Platt Defines Leadership For the Broncos
By Sara Vierra 15' Toban Platt (TP), senior captain on the Bronco's men's crew team said “being a leader means inspiring your team to do more and work harder than they otherwise would, all while having a good attitude.” Platt has demonstrated his leadership throughout his experience with the Broncos on and off of the water as a member of the crew team. Platt has made his college experience well rounded by achieving academic success, participating in programs like Bronco Leadership, and helping lead the men's crew team attain several victories, including a gold medal at the Pacific Coast's Rowing Championship last spring. Howard Limburg Looks Back: How Crew Enriched His College Experience
Howard Limburg (HL) is a senior on the Bronco men's crew team at Santa Clara University. Starting his freshman year in college, Limburg believes being a member of the crew team all four years shaped and made his college experience. From going curling with his team to having to row side by side with members of the women's team in order to compete at the San Diego Crew Classic, Limburg has had some of his most memorable moments of college with his team. After completing a grueling spring break practice schedule, the men’s rowing squad is set to travel south to compete in the San Diego Crew Classic. The Broncos will compete in three events at the SDCC over a two-day period on Apr. 6 and Apr. 7.

Bronco Rowing Hosts Successful Black Velvet
Black Velvet is the Bronco rowing team's traditional annual event to celebrate the work of the team up until this point of the year as well as the acknowledge the approaching racing season and this year's event, hosted Sat., Feb. 23, was its usual success. One of the highlights was Father Rewak, S.J., performing a blessing of the boats.

Men's Rowing Has Strong Showing at Golden State Indoor Rowing Championships
With the season fast approaching, Santa Clara men’s rowing hit the water for the first time under new head coach Jay Farwell in his second tenure on the Mission campus. The Broncos took part in the Golden State Indoor Rowing Championships in Sacramento, Calif. on Feb. 2. Santa Clara raced against Sacramento State, UC Davis and Sonoma State.

Broncos Welcome Back Jay Farwell '94 as Head Coach of Men's Rowing
A Santa Clara alum and four-year oarsman, Jay Farwell '94 and '01 will take the helm as head coach of the men's rowing program. Farwell previously coached the rowing team from 1997-2003 and is the son of program founder Jim Farwell '66. Jay Farwell graduated with a BA in history in 1994 and proceeded to graduate from the Santa Clara School of Law in 2001.

Russell Wetherley And His Typical Week Schedule

Santa Clara Men's Crew Set for Pacific Coast Rowing Championships
Gearing up for the final races of the 2012 season, Santa Clara men's rowing competed in the Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championships on April 28 and 29. The Broncos finished the Men's 2nd Varsity Eight Petite race in first place and was runner-up in the Novice Eight Petite, but did not win the title because of finishes in the other races.
