Santa Clara head coach Dick Davey
On his team's performance against UCSB:
"Well we are trying to win every game, obviously, but I want to see our guys sustain an effort for an entire game and I thought that for the most part we did that. There were still some breakdowns tonight, but I thought in general that the effort was there tonight. Our confidence level overall as a team has been down lately, but coming home has really helped us. Hopefully our confidence level will continue to increase as we head into conference play over the next couple of weeks."
On having the ball in Kyle Bailey's hands in the end:
"We really like the ball in his hands. One reason is for his proficiency at the foul line and the other his for his shooting from the floor. He has started to play like he did last year. He has had a lot of pressure on him early on this year to replace Brian Jones at the point, and now I think he is starting to mature and fill that spot very nicely."
Cable Car Classic MVP Kyle Bailey
On his role in the last minutes of the ballgame:
"I made a big effort in the end because all of my teammates kept us in it so its only fair for me to try and give back to them, keep my end of the bargain."
On whether or not his team is turning the corner:
"I'm not really sure, I mean I am not sure how big that corner is. Everybody keeps talking about the corner, and I am just worried about playing ball and keeping us playing as well as we can. I didn't think that we were in that bad of shape, but I knew that we had things that we needed to do to improve and now we are starting to do them, but there is still more we can do."
