- Junior guard/forward Steve Ross earned his first start and second appearance of the season against Butler. He scored eight points, grabbed four rebounds and went 3-for-9 from the field in 25 minutes. He became eligible on Dec. 18, arrived in West Lafayette, Ind. at 5 p.m. and played 22 minutes against Purdue that night.
- Butler's 17 three-pointers was the second-most ever against Santa Clara. Gonzaga connected on 18 threes against the Broncos on March 1, 1999. The Bulldogs' 29 attempts was the fifth-highest total against SCU all-time.
- Santa Clara next plays five-straight home games to end its non-conference regular-season slate. The Broncos face Nevada on Dec. 23 on Saturday before hosting George Mason, Fordham and Stanford in the annual Cable Car Classic.
