Broncos Fall To Pepperdine, 74-67

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) - Boomer Brazzle sparked an 18-2 Pepperdine run midway through the second half that sparked the Waves to a come-from-behind 74-67 West Coast Conference victory over Santa Clara Thursday.
League-leading Pepperdine (12-6, 5-0) trailed 41-32 at halftime and was down 48-41 after Santa Clara's Jordan Legge scored with 13:57 remaining.
But the Waves rallied behind Brazzle, who scored nine of their 18 points during the crucial stretch and completed the run with a follow shot at 8:15 that gave Pepperdine a 59-50 advantage.
Santa Clara (7-11, 2-3) scored seven straight points to draw to within 64-60. Santa Clara's Brian Vaka hit a three-point shot with 1:06 remaining, and the Pepperdine lead was just 69-67, but the Broncos could get no closer.
Brazzle made two free throws with 22 seconds left to account for the final margin.
Brazzle led all scorers with 19 points, and his 10 rebounds tied Santa Clara's Steve Ross for game high. Pepperdine's Devin Montgomery scored 18, while Jimmy Miggins added 15 and Terrance Johnson 14.
Jordan Legge led Santa Clara with 17 points on 8-10 shooting. Ross scored 15 points and Vaka 11.
