Jun 13, 2013 - Men's Basketball A Great Student-Athlete Graduates, Raymond Cowels III: A Career In Review Graduating senior Raymond Cowels III has had an incredibly successful career as a part of the SCU basketball team. Four years ago, Cowels III came from Minnesota to California to pursue many young players’ dreams and play Division I collegiate basketball. It was no surprise that he was continuing his basketball career, as he lead his high school team to two state championships (2006 and 2009), was named to the All-State team twice and the All-Conference team three times. Jun 7, 2013 - Men's Basketball Bronco Athletics Administration Hosts Senior Send-Off For Student-Athletes With at least 50 of the more than 60 Santa Clara graduates in attendance, and a number of Bronco coaches and administrators as well, Santa Clara Athletic Director Dan Coonan hosted the annual Bronco Senior Send-Off on Thursday night in the Leavey Center. Jun 5, 2013 - Men's Basketball Yannick Atanga Looks Ahead to Next Season Yannick Atanga (YA), a rising junior from Yaounde, Cameroon, was an offensive rebounding specialist in his second year of action for the Broncos. Atanga had a smooth transition from living in Cameroon to playing high school basketball in Los Angeles, where he was a John Wooden Award winner. He hopes that he can continue his smooth transition here at Santa Clara. He believes that his improved offensive game will really show on the court next season. [more]
May 28, 2013 - Men's Basketball Bronco Hoopster Nate Kratch Looks Ahead to Next Season SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Nate Kratch (NK), a freshman from Watertown, Minn., redshirted in his first season on the men’s basketball team. Kratch has high hopes for next season after watching this season from the bench. He was able to learn a lot in his first season as a Bronco, even though he was not suiting up for games. The new members of the 2013 Santa Clara class are high school senior Emmanuel Ndumanya (Enugu, Nigeria) and Fresno State graduate Jerry Brown (Richmond, Calif.). Mar 27, 2013 - Men's Basketball Kevin Foster's Record-Setting Night Leads Broncos Past Wright State and into CBI Finals On a record setting night for Bronco senior Kevin Foster, the Santa Clara basketball team advanced to the final of the College Basketball Invitational presented by Buick with an 81-69 victory over Wright State in Dayton, Ohio. Foster scored 33 points with six threes and four steals. What night it was for Kevin Foster who also is graduating this quarter. After scoring 34 points in the quarterfinal matchup with Purdue on Monday night, Foster becomes just the third Bronco with back-to-back 30-point games. The others are Dennis Awtrey (March 1 and 7, 1969) and Kurt Rambis (Jan. 4 and 5, 1980). Foster also moved into first place on the SCU single season steals list with 85 this year. His six threes put him at No. 5 all-time in the NCAA, moving past Stephen Curry, currently the Golden State Warriors point guard. The win puts Santa Clara at 24-11 and ends Wright State’s season at 23-13. [more]

Feb 23, 2013 - Men's Basketball Behind Career Records Day For Three Seniors, Broncos Win At Portland For The First Time Since 2007 Portland, Ore. – With a number of Bronco career records being broken or tied by three of the Bronco seniors, including Kevin Foster moving to No. 2 all-time on the West Coast Conference career points list, Santa Clara posted its 20th win of the season with a 75-63 victory at Portland for the Broncos’ first win in Portland since Feb. 10, 2007 (76-53). Santa Clara is 20-9 and 8-6 in the WCC. Portland is 11-19 and 4-11 in the WCC. Portland has won three of its last five games. Santa Clara has swept the season series with four WCC teams this year: Portland, Pepperdine, San Diego and USF. Kevin Foster moved to No. 2 all-time in the WCC with 2,211 career points scored, passing LMU’s Terrell Lowery (2,201, 1988-92). Feb 21, 2013 - Men's Basketball Santa Clara's Trasolini Named Capital One Academic All-American; Vote For Marc for Senior CLASS Award Already named a Senior CLASS Award finalist, Santa Clara senior Marc Trasolini was named to the 2013 Capital One Academic All-America Division I Men’s Basketball Third Team Thursday, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America. Trasolini is just the fourth Bronco basketball player in school history receive national Academic All-American honors and the first since 1996. Dennis Awtrey (three times), Pete Eisenrich (twice) and Brendan Graves (once) all were honored on the national list in the past for the Broncos. Trasolini, a cum laude graduate in Finance in March, 2012 with a 3.62 grade point average, is in his fourth quarter of work on his MBA at the prestigious Leavey School of Business. [more]

Jan 31, 2013 - Men's Basketball Trasolini Named To Capital One Academic All-District Team For Third Straight Competition Season Santa Clara senior Marc Trasolini was named Thursday to the Capital One Academic All-District team, his third straight year of competition he has been named to the team. Trasolini, a Senior CLASS nominee, graduated Cum Laude with a 3.62 GPA in Finance from the prestigious Leavey School of Business in March 2012. Trasolini, who was granted a fifth year this year after tearing his ACL, is now in his fourth quarter of work on his MBA in the Leavey School of Business, which is ranked No. 19 nationally (MBA) and boasts a 3.56 GPA. SCU broke a 17-game winless skid against WCC foes with a 74-69 win over USF on Jan. 2, its first victory over a conference opponent since March 22, 2011 when the Broncos beat USF in the quarterfinals of the CollegeInsider.com tournament. Dec 20, 2012 - Men's Basketball Roquemore Named to Cousy Watch List; Leads WCC in Assists The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced Dec. 20 the watch list of candidates for the 2013 Bob Cousy Collegiate Point Guard of the Year Award and Bronco junior Evan Roquemore was one of the four point guards from the West Coast Conference on the list. The annual honor, named for Hall of Famer and former Boston Celtic Bob Cousy, recognizes the top point guards in men’s college basketball. He is the 30th Bronco in school history to score 1,000 career points and he joins senior teammates Marc Trasolini and Kevin Foster who both scored 1000 points in 2011. Dec 7, 2012 - Men's Basketball Men Basketball Hosts Pacific Union Saturday Night Santa Clara (5-2) will play its final game of its six-game homestand on Sat., Dec. 8 at 7 pm with Pacific Union (0-6). The Broncos haven't played since they lost back-to-back overtime games last week as its been Final Week on the Mission campus. Pacific Union College is a fully accredited Seventh-Day Adventist Christian liberal arts college, founded in 1882 and located in California's Napa Valley. The Pioneers play out of Pacific Auditorium (often referred to as "The Covered Wagon") and are members of the NAIA who play out of the California Pacific Conference. Santa Clara is 5-0 and Eastern Washington is 1-5. It is Santa Clara’s first 5-0 start since it started the season at 21-0 in 1968-69. Sep 10, 2012 - Men's Basketball Seniors Raymond Cowels III And Marc Trasolini Are Ready for Their Last Year as Broncos SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Seniors Marc Trasolini and Raymond Cowels III will be leading the Bronco basketball team as captains this season along with Kyle Perricone. The players have been working out and trying to improve their games throughout the summer. On top of all of the training for basketball, Trasolini has been enrolled in three graduate school classes this summer. In the 2011-12 season, Trasolini was not able to play due to an ACL injury, but now is more than ready to get back on the court. Feb 29, 2012 - Men's Basketball Setting School Record For Fewest Turnovers, Broncos Fall 74-70 to Portland Turning the ball over just once in the final three seconds to shatter the school record for the fewest turnovers in a game, Santa Clara battled to the end, but Portland came away with a 74-72 in the play-in game of the WCC Championship. The Broncos led 38-32 at the half and the two team's traded leads three times in the second half before USF got away with an 85-69 victory. Playing its 71st game, in a rivalry that began with a 66-65 victory by USD on Dec., 19, 1963, Santa Clara leads the all-time series 39-31, including 22-14 in Santa Clara. Santa Clara has won just twice in the last six tries at the Leavey Center, an 80-72 victory on Feb. 17, 2007 and then 60-56 on Feb. 12, 2011. Santa Clara swept the season series twice in the last 14 years (2007 and '11). Prior to last season, Santa Clara and San Diego split the season series three straight years, with each winning on the other's floor all three years. This is the 77th meeting between Santa Clara and Gonzaga. Gonzaga leads the all-time series 45-31, including holding a 26-8 advantage in Spokane. Last season Santa Clara grabbed a 14-point win in Santa Clara on Jan. 20, 2011 and Gonzaga returned the favor in Spokane by winning 85-76 on Feb. 17, 2011. In its 85-71 win on ESPNU in mid January, the Broncos were paced by a career-high 36 points from Kevin Foster, the highest tally for a WCC player last season. He followed up that game by hitting eight threes last year in Spokane to finish with 29 points. The 14 threes made by the Broncos were a high under Keating and the most since the Broncos made 15 vs. Gonzaga on March 5, 2001. Falling in overtime on Thursday night to the T-Birds, the Broncos rebounded to win 68-63 this morning after UBC started the game on a 15-0 run. Sep 9, 2011 - Men's Basketball Basketball Falls in Overtime to UBC Erasing a 16-point lead in the fourth quarter, the Broncos tied it up with 1:32 left in the game on a way-out three by Brandon Clark and then Julian Clarke pushed it to overtime with a covered up three of his own with one second left in regulation. Apr 7, 2011 - Men's Basketball Foster Named WCC Player of the Month Again in March Already named the Most Valuable Player of the CollegeInsider.com Post-season Tournament, Bronco sophomore Kevin Foster was named the West Coast Conference Player of the Month in March on Wednesday. Foster received the honor in February as well and was named the WCC Player of the Week twice this season as well. Foster shattered the WCC record with 140 threes this season, which is No. 9 all-time in NCAA single season history. He set the Bronco career three pointers attempted and also broke the single season school records for points scored, minutes played, threes made, threes attempted and games started. Foster, who scored 23.3 ppg in the month of March, averaged 4.7 threes per game as well. Also in March, he led the Broncos with 3.7 spg and 1.3 apg. He also averaged 3.7 rpg in 35.1 mpg. He led the WCC in scoring this year with 20.2 ppg. He led the team with 3.7 apg and 1.6 spg. He was named All-WCC First Team. Jan 24, 2011 - Men's Basketball Foster Named WCC Player of the Week for Second Time This Season After putting up a league-best 36 points in the 85-71 victory over Gonzaga on Jan. 20 and then scoring his 1000th career point two days later in the 72-59 win over Portland on Jan. 22, Santa Clara redshirt-sophomore was named the West Coast Conference Player of the Week Monday. It is the second time he has been named Player of the Week this season (Dec. 6 was the other). Leading the country with 74 threes made this season, Foster is No. 1 in scoring in WCC games (22.2 ppg) and No. 2 overall (19.3 ppg). Canada’s main focus was to get experience for the players, work to develop the players abilities, see the top prospects from Canada and also determine who the head coach would be for the Senior Team, which will most likely represent Canada in the Olympic Games in London in 2012.
