Bronco Athletics Administration Hosts Senior Send-Off For Student-Athletes
With at least 50 of the more than 60 Santa Clara graduates in attendance, and a number of Bronco coaches and administrators as well, Santa Clara Athletic Director Dan Coonan hosted the annual Bronco Senior Send-Off on Thursday night in the Leavey Center. It gave everyone a chance to say goodbye and to thank the seniors for all their efforts athletically and academically.

Yannick Atanga Looks Ahead to Next Season
Yannick Atanga (YA), a rising junior from Yaounde, Cameroon, was an offensive rebounding specialist in his second year of action for the Broncos. Atanga had a smooth transition from living in Cameroon to playing high school basketball in Los Angeles, where he was a John Wooden Award winner. He hopes that he can continue his smooth transition here at Santa Clara. He believes that his improved offensive game will really show on the court next season.

Bronco Hoopster Nate Kratch Looks Ahead to Next Season
SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Nate Kratch (NK), a freshman from Watertown, Minn., redshirted in his first season on the men’s basketball team. Kratch has high hopes for next season after watching this season from the bench. He was able to learn a lot in his first season as a Bronco, even though he was not suiting up for games. SantaClaraBroncos.com (SCB) was able to sit down with Kratch to talk about his experience on the team thus far and look ahead to next season.

Broncos Add Two More Signees to 2013 Class; 2013 Class Has Five Members
Santa Clara head men’s basketball coach Kerry Keating announced two additional signees for the 2013 Bronco signing class on Wed., May 22, 2013. The new members of the 2013 Santa Clara class are high school senior Emmanuel Ndumanya (Enugu, Nigeria) and Fresno State graduate Jerry Brown (Richmond, Calif.). The class already includes Jared Brownridge (Rockford, Ill.), Jarvis Pugh (Murphy, Texas) and Jalen Richard (San Tan Valley, Ariz).

Free ATEO Seminar Hosted By Santa Clara June 8
Santa Clara Athletics is proud to announce it will host an Athletic Training Education Seminar on Sat., June 8 on the Mission Campus. The ATEO Seminar will be presented by NATA Hall of Fame Athletic Trainer Dr. Rod Walters. Athletic Trainers at both the high school and college level are invited to the Athletic Training seminar at Santa Clara featuring a review of issues facing Athletic Trainers. The Seminar will be free of charge and hosted at the Leavey Center at Santa Clara University.

Broncos Win CBI Title With 80-77 Win Over George Mason
The Santa Clara Broncos used a big second half and claimed their second postseason tournament title in three seasons winning the College Basketball Invitational presented by Buick in a decisive third game, 80-77 over George Mason on Friday night in Fairfax, Va.

For the fifth time in six years the Championship Series of the College Basketball Invitational presented by Buick will go to a winner-take-all third game after the Santa Clara Broncos (25-12) failed to close out the series in Game 2, falling at George Mason (22-15) 73-66 on April 3. Game 3 will take place on Fri., April 5 at the Patriot Center (10,000) on the GMU campus with tipoff set for 4 p.m. (PDT). AXS TV will be televised live nationally. Broncos Fall to George Mason in CBI Finals Game 2; Play Decisive Game 3 on Friday at 4 PM Pacific
Looking to close out the College Basketball Invitational presented by Buick with a title on Wednesday night, George Mason had other ideas and Santa Clara fell short 73-66. The two teams will have to return to the Patriot Center on Fri., April 5 in the third and deciding game. Broncos Beat George Mason to Take 1-0 Lead in CBI Best of Three Finals
In the first game of the best of three final of the College Basketball Invitational presented by Buick, Santa Clara topped George Mason by a final of 81-73. It was the eighth consecutive post-season win for the Broncos. Santa Clara will now travel to George Mason to play at 4 pm Pacific on Wed., April 3 on AXS-TV nationally. Bronco Basketball Does the Harlem Shake On An Empty Airplane
Put a college basketball team on the road for six straight days together over Spring Break, playing basketball and spending every waking minute together and you never know what they are going to come up with! Sitting on an empty airplane on a lay-over in Las Vegas on the way home Thursday after winning the CBI Semi-Finals -- the Santa Clara Bronco basketball team, coaches and staff dropped everything and did the Harlem Shake! Brandon Clark started if off dancing a bit and got the whole team - including head coach Kerry Keating - doing it on the plane impromptu!

Kevin Foster's Record-Setting Night Leads Broncos Past Wright State and into CBI Finals
On a record setting night for Bronco senior Kevin Foster, the Santa Clara basketball team advanced to the final of the College Basketball Invitational presented by Buick with an 81-69 victory over Wright State in Dayton, Ohio. Foster scored 33 points with six threes and four steals. What night it was for Kevin Foster who also is graduating this quarter. After scoring 34 points in the quarterfinal matchup with Purdue on Monday night, Foster becomes just the third Bronco with back-to-back 30-point games. The others are Dennis Awtrey (March 1 and 7, 1969) and Kurt Rambis (Jan. 4 and 5, 1980). Foster also moved into first place on the SCU single season steals list with 85 this year. His six threes put him at No. 5 all-time in the NCAA, moving past Stephen Curry, currently the Golden State Warriors point guard. The win puts Santa Clara at 24-11 and ends Wright State’s season at 23-13.

SCU Travels To Wright State CBI Semi-Finals
The Santa Clara Broncos (23-11) continue their postseason run when they travel to Dayton, Ohio on Wed. March 27 to play the Wright State Raiders (23-12) in the semifinal round game of the College Basketball Invitational presented by Buick. The game will air on AXS TV live at 6 pm Pacific with Kenny Rice and Darrin Horn making the call. Broncos Win 23rd Game of the Year At Purdue; Advance to Semi-Finals of CBI at Wright State Wednesday
Coming back to Indiana to play in front of almost 40 friends and family, Santa Clara sophomore Brandon Clark’s two free throws with 8.6 left on the clock helped the Broncos win 86-83 at Purdue University in the second round of the College Basketball Invitational presented by Buick. Santa Clara has won 23 games for just the fourth time in the 106-year school history of basketball; and 23+ games for the second time in three years, having won 24 in 2010-11 when the Broncos won the CIT.

After their first-round win over Vermont in the College Basketball Invitational presented by Buick, the Broncos (22-11) travel to the Midwest for a second-round game at Purdue University (16-17) on Mon., March 25 at 4 pm Pacific. Broncos Win 22nd Game Of the Year Vs. Vermont to Advance To Second Round of CBI
Going on a 7-0 run over a 46 second-span during the last two minutes of play proved to be enough for Santa Clara as the Broncos defeated Vermont 77-67 in the first round of the College Basketball Invitational presented by Buick on Tuesday night. Santa Clara advances to the second round of the CBI and will play March 25 at the winner of the Western Illinois at Purdue game, to be played Wednesday night.

After their most successful regular season in almost 20 years, the Broncos (21-11, 9-7) will host Vermont (21-11, 11-5) in the first round of the College Basketball Invitational presented by Buick on Tues., March 19 at 7 pm in the Leavey Center. Broncos to Host Vermont Tuesday In Sixth Annual CBI
The 16-team field for the 2013 College Basketball Invitational presented by Buick is complete and Santa Clara (21-11, 9-6) will host Vermont (21-11, 11-5) in the first round at the Leavey Center on Tues., March 19 at 7 pm. The Western Illinois at Purdue winner will host the winner of the Vermont at Santa Clara game on Mon., March 25. It is the Broncos first post-season appearance since it won the 2011 CIT by winning its final three games on the road, including a thrilling 76-69 victory at Iona. Vermont finished tied for second with Boston University in the America East Conference with Stony Brook winning the regular season title.

Bronco Men Fall In Final Seconds To LMU In WCC Quarterfinal
Keeping their unprobable run alive with their third win in three days, No. 9 seed LMU defeated No. 4 seed Santa Clara 60-58 on Friday night in the quarterfinals of the West Coast Conference Tournament. Santa Clara is 21-11 and LMU is 11-22. LMU advances to play No. 1 Gonzaga at 6 pm Saturday on ESPN2. It will be the Zags first game since taking over the No. 1 spot nationally on March 4.

With six West Coast Conference honors between them in their careers, Santa Clara’s fifth-year seniors Marc Trasolini and Kevin Foster were both named to the All-West Coast Conference Team Tuesday. Putting four scorers in double figures for the second straight game wasn’t enough as Santa Clara battled to the end, but fell 80-67 to No. 23 Saint Mary’s. Santa Clara is 21-10 and finish fourth in the WCC at 9-7. Saint Mary’s is 26-5 and 14-2 (already captured second).

The Broncos (20-9, 8-6) play their final regular season home game when they host Loyola Marymount (8-20, 1-13) for Senior Night on Thurs., Feb. 28, at 8 p.m. (PST). The five Santa Clara seniors, Marc Trasolini, Kevin Foster, Kyle Perricone, Niyi Harrison and Raymond Cowels III will be honored prior to the game and each will start their final regular season game at the Leavey Center. The game will be televised regionally on Comcast Bay Area. The game can also be heard live on KDOW 1220 AM with the broadcast beginning at 8 p.m. Anthony Passarelli is in his sixth season as the Broncos' play-by-play announcer. Santa Clara clinched the No. 4 seed in the WCC standings with a 75-63 win at Portland on Feb. 23 and has an outside chance at the No. 3 spot. SCU needs to beat LMU and win at Saint Mary's on Mar. 2 and needs BYU to lose its remaining two games (vs. Gonzaga 2/28; at LMU 3/2) to capture third place. The Broncos have only finished in the top three three times in the past 13 years.

Behind Career Records Day For Three Seniors, Broncos Win At Portland For The First Time Since 2007
Portland, Ore. – With a number of Bronco career records being broken or tied by three of the Bronco seniors, including Kevin Foster moving to No. 2 all-time on the West Coast Conference career points list, Santa Clara posted its 20th win of the season with a 75-63 victory at Portland for the Broncos’ first win in Portland since Feb. 10, 2007 (76-53). Santa Clara is 20-9 and 8-6 in the WCC. Portland is 11-19 and 4-11 in the WCC. Portland has won three of its last five games. Santa Clara has swept the season series with four WCC teams this year: Portland, Pepperdine, San Diego and USF. Kevin Foster moved to No. 2 all-time in the WCC with 2,211 career points scored, passing LMU’s Terrell Lowery (2,201, 1988-92). Foster tied the school record for career starts (116) and career field goals (712). Raymond Cowels III and Marc Trasolini tied the school record for career games played (128).

Bronco Basketball Falls at No. 3 Gonzaga
Proving their top five ranking nationally is legit, No. 3 Gonzaga tripped up the Broncos in Spokane on Wednesday night, winning 85-42. Santa Clara travels to Portland for a Sat., Feb. 23 contest at 2 pm on Time Warner Cable. Santa Clara is 19-9 and 7-6 in the WCC. Gonzaga is 26-2 and 13-0 in the WCC. Santa Clara’s 42 points were the fewest under head coach Kerry Keating since they scored 45 at Saint Mary’s on Jan. 1, 2008.

Santa Clara's Trasolini Named Capital One Academic All-American; Vote For Marc for Senior CLASS Award
Already named a Senior CLASS Award finalist, Santa Clara senior Marc Trasolini was named to the 2013 Capital One Academic All-America Division I Men’s Basketball Third Team Thursday, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America. Trasolini is just the fourth Bronco basketball player in school history receive national Academic All-American honors and the first since 1996. Dennis Awtrey (three times), Pete Eisenrich (twice) and Brendan Graves (once) all were honored on the national list in the past for the Broncos. Trasolini, a cum laude graduate in Finance in March, 2012 with a 3.62 grade point average, is in his fourth quarter of work on his MBA at the prestigious Leavey School of Business.

Riding a two-game winning streak, the Broncos (19-8, 7-5) embark on their final extended road trip of the regular season when they visit No. 3 Gonzaga (25-2, 12-0) on Wed., Feb. 20 at 8 p.m. (PST). With Bronco senior Raymond Cowels III becoming the 31st Bronco in school history to score 1,000 career points Saturday night, Santa Clara defeated Pepperdine 70-60. Santa Clara is the third school this season to have four 1,000 point scorers in their starting five (N.C. State and Davidson). Santa Clara travels to No. 5 Gonzaga for a Wed., Feb. 20 match-up at 8 pm on ESPNU.

With the Bronco bench sparking the Broncos to a 10-2 run in the middle of the second half, Santa Clara defeated San Diego 61-52 on Thursday night in the Leavey Center. With the win, the Broncos go up by a half game in fourth place over USD. Santa Clara hosts Pepperdine on Sat., Feb. 16 at 7 pm on WCC Digital.

Marc Trasolini, a co-captain of the Santa Clara basketball team who is a regular at community service events and a top-notch student-athlete, leading the team in rebounds and blocks and is second in points, has been named as one of the 10 finalist's nationally for the Senior CLASS Award. The winner will be announced at the Final Four in Atlanta. To be eligible for the award, a senior student-athlete must have notable achievements in four areas of excellence – community, classroom, character and competition.

Trasolini Named To Capital One Academic All-District Team For Third Straight Competition Season
Santa Clara senior Marc Trasolini was named Thursday to the Capital One Academic All-District team, his third straight year of competition he has been named to the team. Trasolini, a Senior CLASS nominee, graduated Cum Laude with a 3.62 GPA in Finance from the prestigious Leavey School of Business in March 2012. Trasolini, who was granted a fifth year this year after tearing his ACL, is now in his fourth quarter of work on his MBA in the Leavey School of Business, which is ranked No. 19 nationally (MBA) and boasts a 3.56 GPA.

In a high-scoring West Coast Conference bout in Los Angeles, the Broncos lost 84-80 at LMU on Thursday night. The Broncos (12-3, 1-0) host No. 10 Gonzaga (14-1, 1-0) on Sat., Jan. 5 at 5 p.m. in a regionally televised game on Comcast SportsNet California. SCU broke a 17-game winless skid against WCC foes with a 74-69 win over USF on Jan. 2, its first victory over a conference opponent since March 22, 2011 when the Broncos beat USF in the quarterfinals of the CollegeInsider.com tournament. The game vs. the Zags sold out Thursday morning, which is impressive considering the Santa Clara students won't officially return from holiday break until Sunday (dorms open Sunday). The Broncos posted their sixth straight win with a 69-45 decision over Wagner in the championship game of the Cable Car Classic on Dec. 22. They improved to 11-2 on the season, their best start since 1988-89 when they recorded the same record through 13 games, and also reached the 11-win mark earlier on the calendar than any team in the school’s history. The 1977-78 and 1961-62 teams each won their 11th game on Dec. 30. Its six-game win streak equals the longest in-season stretch since the team won six straight from Jan. 23-Feb. 7, 2009.

Roquemore Named to Cousy Watch List; Leads WCC in Assists
The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced Dec. 20 the watch list of candidates for the 2013 Bob Cousy Collegiate Point Guard of the Year Award and Bronco junior Evan Roquemore was one of the four point guards from the West Coast Conference on the list. The annual honor, named for Hall of Famer and former Boston Celtic Bob Cousy, recognizes the top point guards in men’s college basketball. With Evan Roquemore scoring his 1000th Bronco point on a pair of free throws to ice the game with 2.7 seconds left, Santa Clara defeated Pacific 75-71 on Saturday in Stockton. He is the 30th Bronco in school history to score 1,000 career points and he joins senior teammates Marc Trasolini and Kevin Foster who both scored 1000 points in 2011. It was Santa Clara’s first win at Pacific since the Broncos won 67-49 on Dec. 9, 2006.

Santa Clara (5-2) will play its final game of its six-game homestand on Sat., Dec. 8 at 7 pm with Pacific Union (0-6). The Broncos haven't played since they lost back-to-back overtime games last week as its been Final Week on the Mission campus. Pacific Union College is a fully accredited Seventh-Day Adventist Christian liberal arts college, founded in 1882 and located in California's Napa Valley. Led by four Broncos in double figures, including CBE Classic MVP Marc Trasolini’s 25 points, who missed last season with a torn ACL, Santa Clara defeated Eastern Washington 89-74 on Friday at the Leavey Center. Santa Clara is 5-0 and Eastern Washington is 1-5. It is Santa Clara’s first 5-0 start since it started the season at 21-0 in 1968-69. That team, led by head coach Dick Garibaldi, finished the year at 27-2, losing to No. 1 UCLA in the NCAA Tournament. The Broncos were ranked No. 3 by the AP and No. 4 by the UPI in the final poll.

In its second game of the Edward Jones CBE Hall of Fame Classic, Santa Clara defeated USC Upstate 85-65 with Marc Trasolini scoring a game-high 18 points on Tuesday night in the Leavey Center. Santa Clara is 3-0 and USC Upstate is 1-3.

Santa Clara (2-0) returns home this week to host six games in four days in the Leavey Center, including three of its own, to finish play as part of the Edward Jones CBE Hall of Fame Classic. Santa Clara Basketball Wins At Saint Louis On Foster's Record Night
On a record night, led by Kevin Foster’s 30 points, seven steals and five assists, Santa Clara was victorious at Saint Louis Wednesday night, winning 74-62, in its first game of the Edward Jones CBE Hall of Fame Classic. Foster broke Kurt Rambis’ career points scored record at 16:01 in the second half and now sits at No. 1 all-time for the Broncos with 1,748 points. Rambis scored 1,735 points from 1976-80.

Basketball's Kevin Foster Named West Coast Conference Player of the Week
Santa Clara senior guard Kevin Foster has been named the West Coast Conference Player of the Week in the opening week of college basketball season. Foster opened the 2012-13 season in impressive fashion, scoring 27 points and dishing out nine assists with four rebounds and two steals with no turnovers in a Broncos victory over Simpson University -- a team playing its fifth game of the season. Foster sank seven three pointers, and was 9-of-17 shooting overall in 24 minutes of action vs. Simpson.

Beginning the second season of The Bronco Weekly Sports Wrap (BWSW) as part of the EYEBRONCO Network, with Santa Clara senior water polo player John Nash and senior women's soccer player Lauren Matheson serving as co-shots, Bronco Athletics announced Wednesday that sophomore men's basketball Denzel Johnson will join the Bronco Weekly Sports Wrap this season as its newest co-host. Seniors Raymond Cowels III And Marc Trasolini Are Ready for Their Last Year as Broncos
SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Seniors Marc Trasolini and Raymond Cowels III will be leading the Bronco basketball team as captains this season along with Kyle Perricone. The players have been working out and trying to improve their games throughout the summer. On top of all of the training for basketball, Trasolini has been enrolled in three graduate school classes this summer. In the 2011-12 season, Trasolini was not able to play due to an ACL injury, but now is more than ready to get back on the court. Cowels III had a great season last year averaging 10.1 ppg and was the only player to start every game. The West Coast Conference announced the league’s ESPN schedule Wednesday and Santa Clara will be featured on the ESPN network four times this season with two games at home and two games on the road. The Broncos return all five starters, including senior All-WCC players Kevin Foster, who led the nation in three pointers in 2011, and Marc Trasolini, who was forced to miss last season with a torn ACL suffered in the preseason.

Broncos To Play At Duke Dec. 29; Season Tickets On Sale Today
Returning all five starters this season including two All-WCC players in Marc Trasolini and Kevin Foster, Santa Clara University announced Wednesday that Bronco men's basketball season tickets are now on sale to the general public. In addition, the Santa Clara team will travel to Durham, N.C. to play at Duke on Dec. 29 in a 9 am Pacific game to be televised on ESPN2. It will be Santa Clara’s second visit to Cameroon Indoor Stadium, having dropped an 86-80 game on Dec. 27, 1971.

Proving their excellence in the classroom, three Bronco basketball players were named to the NABC Honors Court and they were joined eight other players from four West Coast Conference teams as announced Wednesday by the The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC). The three included All-WCC standout and rising-senior redshirt Marc Trasolini, 2012 graduate Phillip Bach and rising senior Kyle Perricone.

While the men’s basketball team announced June 7 it will travel to Vancouver, British Columbia Sept. 5-10, 2011 on a foreign tour where it will play four games vs. Canadian universities, Thursday it announced hotel plans for the trip for fans. The team will play games on Sept. 6, 8, 9 and 10, 2011.
