Bronco Basketball To Be Broadcast on KDOW 1220 AM Again

Santa Clara University is proud to announce it will partner once again with KDOW 1220 AM to be the exclusive radio home of the Santa Clara University men's basketball program for the 2010-11 season. KDOW will a carry all of the games this year as the Bronco battle for the West Coast Conference title. All games will be broadcast live on KDOW 1220 AM.  Santa Clara opens in 2010 season with an exhibition vs. CSU Maritime on Fri., Nov. 5 at 6 pm and then its regular season with a 6 pm vs. CSU Bakersfield on Fri., Nov. 12.

Santa Clara welcomes back play-by-play announcer Anthony Passrelli in his fourth year at the helm for the men's basketball team and his 10th season with Santa Clara. A San Jose native and graduate of Bellarmine College Prep, Passarelli began his broadcasting career in 1993 as a news/sports reporter at KPAY radio in Chico, Calif.  Passarelli was then the radio play-by-play announcer for the independent Western Baseball League's Salinas Peppers and then the Sports Director for KFBK radio in Sacramento. Passarelli joined KCBS radio in San Francisco as a sports anchor/reporter in 1998. He has won three NorCal RTNDA awards for "Best Sportscast" and "Best Sports Feature".

In addition, Chetan Chaudhari will again serve as the station board operator for the fourth straight season. 

Bronco men's basketball head coach Keating will appear on KDOW's Sports Ramble show with host Chetan Chaudhari, every Sunday evening, starting Sun., Nov. 7, from 9:05-9:20 p.m. to discuss the team's progress and upcoming games. Besides Keating, other head coaches including first-year head women's basketball coach Jennifer Mountain will be featured on a regular basis.

Santa Clara opens its season on Fri., Nov. 5 at 7 pm in the Leavey Center for an exhibition vs. CSU Maritime. The Broncos host their regular season opener vs. CSU Bakersfield on Fri., Nov. 12 at 6 pm in Santa Clara.

"We are excited to continue our relationship with KDOW AM 1220. Bringing our men's basketball games over the radio waves to Bronco fans both in their homes and on the road is important to me. With Coach Keating on the Sports Ramble every Sunday evening, he will again be able to give Santa Clara basketball fans an inside look on a regular basis. We look forward to tipping off the season with an exhibition vs. CSU Maritime at the Leavey Center this Friday," said Santa Clara Athletic Director Dan Coonan.

They have a rich basketball tradition, going back to the days of Kurt Rambis, and later Steve Nash. The contract will include daily morning updates on Bronco and WCC highlights from Bronco radio voice Anthony Passarelli, ticket giveaways and signage in the Leavey Center.
