Feb. 22, 2007

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Five Santa Clara University student-athletes earned spots on the West Coast Conference Winter All-Academic teams that were announced Thursday by the WCC. Scott Dougherty, Mitch Henke, Joey Kaempf and Danny Pariseau from men's basketball received the distinction, while Ashley Graham from women's basketball was also named to the team. Near the completion of each athletic season, the WCC selects an all-academic squad for each of the participating sponsored sports.

For men's basketball, Dougherty, a chemistry major, has had a big impact on the court as a senior in 2006-07. He is the Broncos leading scorer in conference games, scoring 14.5 points per game, and he has twice scored over 20 points in conference play. For the season, the Portland, Ore. native has appeared in all 27 games with 14 starts. He possesses a 3.57 cumulative GPA.

Henke earned a perfect 4.0 GPA in the fall quarter at SCU and now has a 3.74 GPA for his career as a finance major. On the court, Henke has appeared in 26 games, averaging 7.0 points and 3.9 rebounds per game. The native of Minnetonka, Minn. scored a season high 17 points in the Broncos game at Kentucky on Dec. 19.

Kaempf, another Portland, Ore. native, is a three-point specialist for the Broncos and averages 3.8 points per game off the bench. In the upset win over Gonzaga on Feb. 12, Kaempf hit three straight 3-pointers to turn a six-point lead in to a 15-point advantage for SCU. A political science major, he has a cumulative 3.60 GPA.

After transferring from Eastern Washington last year, Pariseau has been one of the keys to the Broncos success this season. A Spokane, Wash. native, he is averaging 9.9 points per game and leads the team in assists at 4.7 per game. A senior combined sciences major, Pariseau has a 3.12 cumulative GPA.

For the women, Graham has had a standout year on the court, averaging 10.9 points and 5.0 assists per game. She is second on the team in 3-pointers with 55 on the season. A native of Redmond, Wash. She owns a 3.64 GPA as a psychology major.
