Santa Clara Men's Basketball Plays Final Exhibition Contest Sunday

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The Santa Clara University men's basketball team will play its final exhibition game of the preseason Sunday against RTU Korabel, a Ukranian club team sponsored by Basketball Travellers, Inc. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. at Bellarmine College Prep.

The Broncos dropped their first exhibition game to the California All-Stars in overtime by a 98-96 score. Junior forward Justin Holbrook (Seal Rock, Ore.) led Santa Clara with 22 points on 9-for-11 shooting from the field. Senior forward Jamie Holmes (Merced, Calif.) added 19 points, while freshman guard Jason Morrissette (Los Angeles, Calif.) added 14 for the Broncos.

Korabel is 1-3 heading into Friday night's contest at Weber State. They opened their tour with a 95-76 loss at Portland on Nov. 5 and their lone win was a 78-75 win at Idaho State. The Santa Clara game is the final contest for the Ukranian team before it returns home on Monday morning.

Sunday's exhibition game is the final home contest for Santa Clara for 31 days. Santa Clara opens the regular season Friday in the Top of the World Classic in Fairbanks, Alaska. After the first game against Utah State, the Broncos will face either South Florida or Davidson in the second round of the Top of the World Classic. Other tournament participants are Alaska-Fairbanks, Austin Peay, Colorado and Jackson State.
