SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara baseball hosts Gonzaga in their final home West Coast Conference series of the season. The Broncos and Bulldogs begin battle on Friday, April 24 at 7 p.m. and continue action on Saturday, April 25 at 6 p.m. The series concludes on Sunday, April 26 at 1 p.m. All three games will be played at Stephen Schott Stadium.

Last Time Out
SCU faced a tough 1-3 weekend at San Francisco and Stanford. The Broncos lone win came on Friday night after junior RHP Nate Garcia tossed his fifth career complete game. He struck out 10 batters along the way and gave up just one run. Sophomore Chris Morton and freshman Lucas Herbst also tallied home runs in the outing.
Santa Clara enters the weekend with a 15-21 overall record and a 4-8 WCC mark. Geoff Klein continues to lead the way with a .371 batting average, 42 RBIs, 17 doubles and four home runs. Brady Fuerst also has 17 doubles, while Jon Karcich has a team-high 26 runs. On the mound, Garcia leads with a 3.61 ERA and a 6-3 record. He has struck out 71 batters thus far.
The Bulldogs enter the weekend with a 25-13 overall record and a 7-5 WCC mark. Tyson Van Winkle leads the team batting .377 with 20 doubles and 41 RBIs. Evan Wells has scored a team-best 41 runs, while Mark Castelitto has tallied six home runs. Gonzaga will look to snap its three-game drought against SCU. The Zags have won series against USF, Pepperdine and San Diego, while dropping their lone series to Portland last weekend.
Last Time vs. Gonzaga
Santa Clara and Gonzaga last met in a three-game series on April 11-13 in Spokane. The Broncos won the series 2-1, with wins on Friday and Sunday. In the series finale, SCU topped Gonzaga, 9-5.

Friday's game marks the 64th meeting of the two programs in a series SCU leads 35-28.

Garcia Enters First Career Record Book List
With his 10 strikeouts against USF on Friday, junior RHP Garcia became the third Bronco to enter the SCU Record Books this season. He is now tied for No. 10 all-time with 220 Ks.
In the WCC
Through all-games, the Broncos are second in doubles and tied for fourth in triples. SCU is also fourth in strike outs. Individually, Garcia leads in strike outs and innings pitched, Matt Long is tied for second in triples, Fuerst is third in doubles, and Klein is third in RBIs. See page 6 for the complete list.

As a team, Santa Clara is ranked in the top 100 in doubles (No. 15), doubles per game (No. 8), strikeouts per nine innings (No. 25), and walks per nine innings (No. 60).
