Baseball Season Opener Postponed

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Due to rain and field conditions, the Santa Clara University baseball season opener against UC Riverside has been postponed until Saturday afternoon. The Broncos and Highlanders will begin the first game of a doubleheader at 1:00 p.m. Sunday's game is still set for 1:00 p.m. at Buck Shaw Stadium.

In addition to the Bronco baseball doubleheader, the Santa Clara University men's basketball team will host West Coast Conference foe San Diego in a 7:00 p.m. match-up in the Leavey Center.

After a second place finish in the WCC West Division last season, the Broncos are looking to advance to the postseason in 2005. Led by 24 returning letterwinners and 11 newcomers, Santa Clara will boast a wealth of talent and experience in the upcoming season. Along with the excitement on the field, the Broncos will also say good bye to Buck Shaw Stadium this season, its home since 1962.
