Santa Clara - 1
Oregon - 5
SCU and Oregon played the regulation five-inning game in the second outing of the day due to travel constraints.
The Ducks quickly claimed a 3-0 lead in the first inning as Tommasini, Curtis Raulinaitis and Eddy Rodriguez scored. The Broncos fought to knot the score as Curtis Wagner doubled to right center field and Fuerst singled to right field. Wagner tried to score on the play but a rocket from right fielder Antony Kreitz put the sophomore out at home. The basses were full with two outs on the board after Lucas Herbst and Parra walked. Fuerst then scored on a pass ball but that was all SCU would get as the third out was made with the next batter.
Oregon added on another run in its half of the second to claim a 4-1 advantage and then another in the fifth to win the game 5-1.
The Ducks out-hit the Broncos 7-4, while Santa Clara had three errors. Madison Boer (1-0) earned the win on a complete game. Cory Hall (0-2) received the loss, allowing four runs (one earned) on three hits.
Santa Clara returns to action with a midweek battle at UC Davis.
