Recap |  Box Score

Head Coach Mark O'Brien:

On the performance of his pitching staff:
"I thought that Nate did a great job of just bobbing and weaving out there, and the big thing was that after he gave up three in the third, he came back strong with shutout innings in the fourth and fifth."

"Steve Kalush did a great job of getting out of the sixth after giving up a leadoff double, and Jeff Lombard came in, fired strikes, and got it going right away. I'm real proud of our bullpen."

On the bullpen continuing its scoreless innings streak:
"Good performances like today let our starters know that when they give us six or seven good quality innings, they can turn it over to a solid bullpen. We have some guys here who can do a good job of closing out a game."

On the offense taking advantage of Utah's mistakes:
"I was very happy to see our guys answer back with five runs after Utah put up two in the first on us. You can't ask for much more than to answer back after a team takes a lead on you."

Closer Jeff Lombard:

On the bullpen's performance:
"We're just coming in and throwing strikes and having a competitive off-speed pitch. Today, Steve and I were able to come in and provide just that which helped the team out."

On the bullpen's dependability giving the team confidence:
"Everytime we get a chance to go out there, especially the freshmen, its another chance to get more experience on the mound. Its big for Steve to get in there, go two and a third, and contribute to the win."
