Former Santa Clara University baseball standout Shawn Epidendio was added to the Broncos' coaching staff prior to the 2008 season. Epidendio continues to be an integral part of the SCU program, working closely developing the team's outfielders, assisting with the hitters and coaching first base.

Epidendio was instrumental in helping Santa Clara win 33 games in 2008. Prior to returning to his alma mater, Epidendio served as assistant coach for the Archbishop Mitty varsity baseball team. He also worked as a representative for M.E. Fox and Company.

Epidendio appeared in 151 games during his playing career at Santa Clara from 2002-05, starting 93 at third base. As a junior, Epidendio hit .338 as a junior leading the team with a.443 on base percentage. As a senior, he finished second on the team in on base percentage (.415) and recorded 42 hits in 149 at-bats. He ended his collegiate career with over 100 hits, 47 runs and 42 RBI.

PLAYING CAREER
As a Senior in 2005: Started 39 of the 48 games he appeared in ... recorded 42 hits in 149 at-bats ... was hit-by-pitch 19 times during the season ... went 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored against Cal Poly on February 26 ... doubled and drove in two runs against Cal Poly on February 27 ... had two hits against Pepperdine on March 19 ... went 4-for-6 with a home run, a double, and four RBIs on April 16 at Loyola Marymount ... had a four-game multi-hit streak from April 23-29, batting .588 (10-for-17) with a double, four RBIs and five runs scored in games at St. Mary's, at Stanford, and against Gonzaga, including a 4-for-5 performance against the Bulldogs on April 29 ... had a double and an RBI against Stanford on May 10 ... went a combined 5-for-12 in the final series of the year, scoring six runs and driving in one against Portland from May 20-22

As a Junior in 2004: Appeared in 40 games, starting 15... made first start of the year at Texas A&M on March 13... started the last five games of the season... ended the year on a six-game hitting streak... ranked third on the team with a .338 batting average... led the Broncos with a .443 on base percentage... second on the team after being hit by a pitch nine times... posted seven multiple hit games on the season... went 2-for-2 with three walks, two runs scored and two RBI against Pepperdine on May 16.

As a Sophomore in 2003: Saw action in 23 games, while starting seven... recorded five hits in 31 at-bats... drove in six runs, including two against Gonzaga on March 23... connected on a double against Pepperdine on March 30.

As a Freshman in 2002: Started 32 of the 40 games he appeared in during his rookie season... ripped two hits in three straight contests, spanning the last game against Gonzaga at Buck Shaw Stadium and the first two contests at Pepperdine... went 2-for-5 against Stanford with 2 RBI and his first home run of the season... went 3-for-5 against Nevada, knocking in four RBI on March 2... finished the year with a .237 batting average, collecting 28 hits, 15 RBI and 19 runs scored.
