Meet the Future of Bronco Baseball – Holden Bernhardt
SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara baseball announced the third member of its incoming recruiting class for the 2018-19 season, Holden Bernhardt.  The left-handed pitcher currently attends Mesa Community College in Mesa, Arizona, along with his twin brother and Bronco signee, Locke Bernhardt.

"I chose Santa Clara because I really like the entire coaching staff.  I believe I can benefit from all of the coaches' experience and I am very excited to play for them. Also, I feel that this team is going to be very successful and I can't wait to be a part of it and compete with them. The campus is beautiful and I am going to enjoy being there every day," said Bernhardt.

The left-hander made a team-high 18 appearances last season, four of those games he started. Overall, he compiled a 4-2 record, striking out 42 batters in 35.1 innings. His team went 43-18.

"We are very excited to have Holden commit to Santa Clara.  We are expecting Holden to compete for a spot in our weekend rotation as soon as he steps foot on campus. He is a very talented left-handed pitcher with a fastball up to 90 (miles per hour) and a great slider. This combination along with his competitive personality should make him a successful piece to the future of Bronco Baseball," said Broncos head coach Rusty Filter.

Bernhardt played prep baseball at Mountain View High School in Loveland, Colorado, where he helped lead the Mountain Lions to a fifth place finish in the state playoffs in 2016.  During his senior season, the three-time letter winner posted a 7-0 record, striking out 65 batters and allowing 16 hits in 42.1 innings.

Our next future Bronco, Locke Bernhardt, will be announced the week of December 4.
